How do you make Corned Beef?

I like the Nathan's brand of corned beef. They even have a little packet of seasonings. But you can buy any brand. Put it in a pot with enough water to cover it. Add bay leaves, cardamom ( if you have it), garlic, whole black pepper corns, a small amount of whole allspice, a little salt. Boil covered until it is tender. How long depends on the size of your piece of meat. But it always takes at least 2 hours. Add water during cooking if needed. Reduce the heat just enough to prevent it from boiling over. Also, remember that after it is cooked your corned beef will be about 1/3 the size it was when you bought it.
