How is the nightlife in Westwood (West Hollywood), LA?

Look at a map, and see exactly where Berkeley is. It's almost next to Oakland, right? Oakland is one of the MOST dangerous cities in California, and Berkeley is several miles across the bay from anything in the San Francisco peninsula. That makes UCLA the better choice, but if your only interest is to party why bother wasting you money on either?
