Dog censer? i need to know a little about it?

OK, so i have a Sharpe,Retriever mut mix thing, and i never noticed before but someone pointed out that he had this squishy yet hard (defiantly hard to explain) lump thing on his chest. things happened this week and I'm low on cash and cant afford a vet visit (especially if its just in my head) tell next week. my question is is the lump or things like that normal for any of the breeds he is apart of. i'm worried it mite be a tumor or something.
